Open Water

RAID Open Water — your passport to explore the oceans with a buddy or a group, to a maximum of 18 m / 60 ft in conditions similar to or better than training.

Junior Open Water is available for ages 10–14: dive with a certified adult buddy of equal or higher certification to a maximum of 18 m / 60 ft.

Learn to SCUBA dive with us in Jeffreys Bay: study the RAID online course, complete your water skills, then dive in the ocean — and walk out with an internationally recognised certification. Oceans and waterways offer anything from calm, peaceful dives to bigger adventures, and diving is something the whole family can enjoy, including juniors from 10 years old.

Who

Adult Open Water from 15 years old. Junior Open Water for ages 10–14. Under 18 needs parent or guardian consent. You must be able to complete the required swim tests. Before any in-water session: online registration with medical questionnaire, liability release and safe-diving statement.

Why

Certified to dive to 18 m / 60 ft with a group or buddy, in conditions similar to or better than training. Juniors dive with a certified adult buddy of equal or higher certification.

What

At least 3 to 4 days practical. Online academics, quizzes and exam. 4 confined-water dives (performance based) and 4 open-water dives with at least 2 hours underwater.

Where

Confined/pool: maximum 5 m / 15 ft. Open-water dives 1–2: maximum 12 m / 40 ft. Open-water dives 3–4: maximum 18 m / 60 ft.
