Operating independently from the international Reef beach footwear brand, it is owned by Wetsuits SA and has been family-run by the Stringer family since 1987. Based out of their factory shop in Ottery, Cape Town, the brand originally built its legacy crafting high-performance wetsuits tailored for the freezing Atlantic waters. Over the years, Reef has evolved into a comprehensive ocean brand, expanding its product line to include surfing and bodyboarding essentials, diving gear, and casual beach apparel. It remains deeply integrated into the local community by supporting South African champions, funding ocean-focused development projects like Waves for Change and the 9Miles Project, and providing a dedicated, multi-brand wetsuit repair service.
