The week at J-Bay SCUBA started with a bit of a hurry-up-and-wait situation. Paul (call him at +27 83 521 5093 to book) stayed over in Port Elizabeth after doing some DM pool skills with Greg from Elite SCUBA on Sunday morning, then met with a tourism industry expert about our new website and fitted a shaft anode to Phoenix.
Early Monday morning, Paul was waiting for the delayed Costa Deliziosa (it even made the papers!). Out of the 3,000 passengers, just 4 decided to adventure with J-Bay SCUBA. We hit the road soon after and did an excellent dive in Jeffreys Bay. Afterwards, we headed back via the old Van Stadens River bridge and stopped for some photos.
Our transport had a battery issue, but we got it jumped with help from some friends and returned the crew to their ship — a little later than expected. We all had a blast!
On Tuesday, Timothy filled some cylinders while Paul was in the pool perfecting underwater skills. Wednesday brought two more dives (including a 38-min and a 64-min one), and on Thursday we did another. Across all the dives, we enjoyed great visibility and bottom temperatures just below 19°C.
Our last dive on Thursday was a bit colder, but we still squeezed in a 30-minute dive before the onshore wind caught us.
On Friday we handled some admin, and as the weekend approaches, Sunday is looking like the best diving option. We have 3 seats open!
