Safe in Durban!
Landed in the dark — shipping lights offshore reminded me of Lagos. Phone lit up with more donations, encouragement, and course requests. We’re so close to R10,000! Who’s pushing us over?
The flight from Port Elizabeth was tight. Heavy rain, cutting it fine, but I made it. Added the 32kg sporting goods allowance for my dive gear. Timothy cleverly added a crate for rigidity. Scale showed 31.5kg — check-in guy was impressed 😁 and thought I planned it. I just winged it!
Sat between two Zulu ladies. Had a great chat with the chemical engineer on my left about partial pressures and gas density at depth. Nearly gave her a full lecture — captive audience!
Quick Uber to Umhlanga. Stuart and Nadine had dinner ready: delicious wraps and sweet potato fries. Great company. I finally stopped talking so they could share their story too.
Tomorrow we start officially. Can’t wait! Now, sleep time 😴
