We had a pleasant 18m dive on Moonies. The water was quite cool at 14 degrees Celcius top and bottom, but we still did a respectable 30 minute dive with 5 to 8m visibility. It was Deon's first dive in our area, and we were fine tuning his buoyancy with an added chicken vest in the mix that was different from what we trained with in the pool. In the end, we figured he had to have one more weight, especially towards the end of the dive when his cylinder was near empty. The cold was actually not too bad afterwards while we waited on the boat for the deep divers to finish their dives.
After grabbing a bite to eat with the rest of the crew, we greeted everybody and headed back to J-Bay where Paul had surf launch students waiting with their boat, JPOP. They headed straight to the beach launch area in Jeffreys Bay main beach, and completed the surf launch training for Oliver and Graham's sign-off for their surf launch endorsement. Once completed, Paul moved over to Rudi and Franna on their Seadoo jetskis, to also give them some local orientation and training on operating their craft in the surf zone in Jeffreys Bay.
